Each of our students has their own reasons why they decided to study Russian. Many people begin to learn this difficult language in order to read Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Pushkin, Chekhov in Russian. This is a very difficult and long journey. To be honest, in order to read even a small fragment of Dostoevsky’s novel and understand what is written there in Russian, you need many years of preparation and lessons. The Russian language of classical literature is very different from the modern spoken language. But, of course, students from All Russian School do not wait so long to start reading Russian literature in the original!

Our teachers start by adapting fragments of the work and reading with the student. The teacher helps to understand new words and complex constructions. Also, our teachers are philologists, they know the historical context, they know how to interpret and explain the work so that the student understands what the author wanted to say. With us, you don’t need to study long and hard to start reading and understanding Russian literature!

This is a very individual work. For example, a student really wants to read poetry in Russian. The teacher selects a poem, and then does a very large and important job: he adapts the original text of the poem for the student’s level. In the lesson, the student sees the original text and the adaptation. Together with the teacher, they read and analyze these texts. Student learn new words, constructions. Also, the student receives an interesting lecture about when and why the author wrote this poem and what he wanted to say. What symbols and metaphors mean.

In All Russian we have a very individual approach to each of our students and we want the student to always get what he came to our school for.
