Pavlova Cake – fresh fruit meringue cake, especially popular in New Zealand and Australia. It is made from meringue, whipped cream, the top layer is decorated with berries and slices of tropical fruits. In New Zealand, kiwi is preferred, and in the UK raspberries.
Dessert is baked, both in the form of a cake, and in portions.
The dessert is named after the great Russian ballerina – Anna Matveevna Pavlova (1881-1931).
According to research, the recipe appeared in New Zealand during the world ballerina tour. The cake was made on the occasion of her birthday and presenting a new dessert, the chef exclaimed: “As airy as Pavlova”
According to this version, so the name was assigned to the dessert. Currently, there are more than 300 types of this dessert, but the classic is meringue, cream, berries, fruits and vanilla.
